William Collins was raised up in the area of Massillon Ohio, on a small family farm. He spent his youth helping with the chores. He had always had a wild streak in him which drove him to always push the boundaries of what is possible. He was known around town as a person who would not give up until his goal was achieved.

He would often be found under the large oak tree on the family farm at night staring up at the stars. If you had asked him what he was going to do when he was older he would immediately tell you: "I will be the best starship captain to ever serve, and command a fleet of my own". With the determination and conviction in his voice you would not doubt a word of that statement.

He grew up and graduated at the top of his class from the military academy, and served as a helmsman on a small destroyer in the Federation Space Forces for a few years. He eventually worked his way up to the rank of Commander, and finally, true to his dream as a youth, gained the rank of Captain of the venerable Frigate Detroit. He had worked his way up to the captain of a vessel in a shorter amount of time than any of his peers, and not just any vessel. The Detroit was the envy of every captain. She was fast, well armored, and seen by many as worthy of being called the Flagship of the Federation. During his time as captain of the Detroit he had led the fight through some of the pivotal battles of the Unification Wars.

Now with the decommissioning of the Detroit at hand, he is tasked with one last mission. Bring her home safe and sound to the New Horizon Shipyards in orbit around the moon. Where she will be prepped for scrapping, that is until a mysterious distress signal is answered and the whole Federation is turned upside down....
